The parish church of Saints Cosmas and Damian stands in Polača; the two saints are the patrons of the local parish. The previous church was consecrated on 24 September 1989 but was razed to the ground on 15 October 1991. The idea of building it came during a visit by Archbishop Monsignor Marijan Oblak, and the parish priest of the day, Don Ivan Mustać, gathered the villagers behind it; the brothers Mile and Ivan Žilić together with Šime Žilić gave the land free of charge, and the foundation stone was blessed on 30 January 1989. The interior of that church — the main altar, the tabernacle, the Višeslav baptismal font and the crucifix — was the work of the local artist Ratko Peraić. According to the municipality's own record, three bells and a large clock were ordered from Italy for the bell tower, each with its own dedication: "Saints Cosmas and Damian, pray for Polača here and around the world", "Saint Martin, pray for us" for the hamlets of Prtenjače and Čirjaci, and "Saint Anthony, pray for the Croatian people", in memory of the many people of Polača killed on the feast of Saint Anthony in 1944. Construction of today's church began in 2005 and the Archbishop of Zadar, Monsignor Ivan Prenđa, consecrated it on 26 February 2006.
